Ordinarily, Legal Policy LP2/2004 requires all members of staff to obtain a legal review prior to having authority to commit the University to any legal document or to sign one on its behalf.

If you have obtained a legal document in accordance with this DIY legal document service, in accordance with the Legal Policy and with a view to streamlining the process of you getting it signed, the University's General Counsel has issued a blanket legal review for all legal documents that have been prepared in accordance with the standard DIY legal document template, provided there have been no special instructions or other customisation of the legal document.

Where, for any reason, your legal document requires special terms or conditions or other customisation, please follow the normal procedure described at the "How do I obtain a legal review" FAQ page on the Legal & Governance website.

You should also bear in mind that after your agreement has been signed, you should send the University's original signed copy to the Office of Legal & Governance for safekeeping within the contracts register that we are establishing.
