Do you have a sample of how Murdoch signs documents?
How Murdoch executes (or signs) a document will depend
on whether the law, or the other party to the document or agreement, requires it
to sign formally, i.e. under seal, or informally.
For more information in this regard, refer to our FAQ on When
does the University have to sign with its official seal?
| Execution under official seal |
|
 |
| If Murdoch has to sign under its
official seal, it must be witnessed by any one of the Chancellor, the Pro
Chancellor or the Vice Chancellor as well as by the General Counsel. |

Informal execution
If Murdoch does not need to sign using its official
seal, i.e. informal execution is sufficient, anyone with appropriate delegated
authority can sign on its behalf. Please refer to the Office
of Financial Services Policy & Procedures Manual, section 510 for
further details on delegated authorities.

Companies signing documents
If a company is signing a document, the linked Sample
Execution Clauses document
provides the standard format that you should use. Do not accept a document signed in a
less formal way, without first consulting Legal & Governance.
What about other types of entities?
Other types of entities, e.g. Government departments and
agencies, local councils, associations or institutions (whether incorporated or
not), will often require a special form of signature/execution clause.
You should ask the relevant party to provide a sample of their
standard signature or execution clause and seek advice from Legal Services to
make sure that the signature on the document is valid and properly binds the
other party.
