What is the official seal and where is it located?
The Murdoch University Act 1973 (WA) creates the University as an incorporated
body, and declares that it will have an official seal.
The University uses its seal as the most formal way of signing contracts and
other legal documents.
The General Counsel has custody of the official seal in accordance with the
Official Seal Statute (No. 1).
The official seal must be witnessed by two signatures, namely either the Chancellor,
the Pro Chancellor or the Vice Chancellor on the one hand, and the General Counsel
on the other hand.
Senate resolution S/54/2004 also details the circumstances in which
the official seal may be used.
